Getting started

From a printed bracket to your first result, once through. Each step links to its full guide.

What you need

  • An Android phone running Android 10 or newer, with a gyroscope. If yours has none, the app says so. The iPhone version is coming later.
  • A bracket and one wedge, printed in PETG. Our print files will be published when the app launches, or you can make your own.
  • For calibration: a hard, flat floor beside a wall or bookshelf, a strip of tape and a pen.
  • For measuring: level, firm ground, wheel chocks, and about four minutes per toe lap.

The first time the app opens

The Terms of Use and Safety come first. The key points are at the top; scroll to the end, tick the box confirming you are 18 or older and agree, and tap Accept. Decline closes the app and saves nothing. You can read them again later in Settings → About, or on this site.

Finding your way round

The app opens on Full Alignment. At the top, Select Vehicle opens your garage. Above the car drawing is the Measure menu: Toe, Camber, Thrust (and Caster, greyed out until it is built), with Front and Rear underneath. Start begins a lap. The ? button opens How to Get Better Readings, and the slider icon at the top right opens Settings:

Five steps to your first result

  1. Fit the phone in the bracket. Measure the phone in its case, pick the wedge, phone in against FRONT and the rail, wedge in, push to lock. Wedge and phone
  2. Run Bracket Calibration. Settings → Bracket Calibration. A few minutes at a wall with a strip of tape. Until a calibration is saved, Full Alignment shows only the way to it. Bracket Calibration
  3. Get the car ready. Level ground, steering wheel centered, roll forward a few feet, engine off, wheels chocked, wheel covers off, rim lips wiped. Let the phone settle outside for 3 to 5 minutes. Before you measure
  4. Walk the car. Tick Toe with Front and Rear, tap Start, answer the steering question, rest the bracket on the ground for ten seconds, then hold it on each wheel the screen lights until it buzzes. Measure toe
  5. Read the result. Check the confidence first, then steer-ahead, thrust, and what to adjust. Read the result

The lessons play by themselves

While the tutorial is on, short animated lessons play before each calibration and each lap. Next lesson moves on, Close stops them for this time, and Skip tutorial turns them off; turn them back on in Settings → Help → Enable Tutorial. You can watch all sixteen here.
